Il Castello
The sixteenth-century castle at Santa Margherita Ligure, its weathered stone walls and corner turrets rising beside painted townhouses in coral, ochre, and green-shuttered yellow. The rocky shoreline runs along the bottom of the frame, and the marina and hillside fill the background under a bright summer sky.
The Republic of Genoa built the fortress in 1550 to defend this stretch of coast against pirate raids. Today the waterfront promenade passes right beneath it, and the old stone sits easily among the color of the modern town.
Printed with pigment-based inks for lasting quality and rich tonal depth. Available on archival fine art paper, canvas, or metal.
